OBJECTIVES
“New EWC directive – New Perspectives” is a transnational cooperation project with an objective to raise awareness on the recast directive 2009/38/EC and promote the creation of new European Work Councils involving trade unions from new member states.
This objective directly addresses the objectives c, d and e of the call for proposals.
(c) to promote action aiming to familiarize the social partners and actors at company level with the content of Directive 2009/38/EC on European Work Councils as well as to promote the setting up of new European Work Councils and to improve transnational information and consultation processes in European Union – scale undertakings and European Union – scale groups of undertakings;
(d) to promote transnational actions involving representatives of new member states and of candidate countries in the field of information, consultation and participation of workers;
(e) to promote actions aiming to enable the social partners to exercise their rights and their duties as regards information, consultation and participation in European Union scale undertakings, especially within the framework of European Work Councils.
These objectives were achieved through a series of transnational activities involving the Federation of Industrial Trade Unions (OBES), one of the most historical Greek employers’ associations, the Association of SA and Ltd Companies, and trade unions from new member states. The main activities of the project that are the three transnational conferences gathered a large number of trade union representatives and EWC representatives, dealed exhaustively with the recast directive 2009/38/EC and thus achieved the stated objectives.
